Benefit of Magento #2: Always Staying Current

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I recently received an e-newsletter for the Magento Group informing me that they will be releasing a new 1.7 Enterprise Version in Q4. I’m totally floored for this release for a two reasons: One is the attention to detail used for optimizing the platform. The second is the Rewards Points feature for users.

Anyone who has developed a community or enterprise open-source platform understands a sluggish Web site that may accrue due to the robust features that come with either platform. Magento has been on top of this possible headache for some time now and with the release of Version 1.7 we will get to see Magento optimized.

The second reason I am looking forward to the release is the Rewards Points System. After building over 25 Magento Web sites, I have had a handful of clients asking for a Rewards system to offer their users. The reason why I am so thrilled with this add-on is because it helps increase online business for those who use it and gives back to loyal online customers.

The rewards feature is just one of many upgrades coming to the Magento 1.7 enterprise version. If you missed the newsletter or want to read more about the new release, go here.

Top 5 Reasons To Use The Magento Platform

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Reason 1:
My name is Luke I am a Customer Solutions Specialist with MagentoCommercePros.com. Each week I will be writing about our experience working with the Magento Platform and counting down our top 5 favorite reasons why we enjoy using it.

Since we started working with Magento over a year ago, we have realized how powerful this platform truly is. We have found the Magento Community and Enterprise edition to be some of the best solutions for managing multiple store URLs from the back-end. Our clients also appreciate how easy Magento makes managing multiple URL’S:

One client that comes to mind is Betterbraces.com. BetterBraces came to us looking for a way to simplify its day-to-day tasks. When we sat down with the client we quickly realized that its problem was one we had seen many times before: Our client was spending most of his time repeating tedious tasks such as uploading new SKUs, which included pictures and content, for each separate Web site. We knew then that using the Magento platform would be in our client’s best interest. Our client was also amazed at the amount of additional features the community version came with, but I will speak to you about that next week. As our development for this project wrapped and our tutorial work began, the BetterBraces was officially able to manage its 5 stores online.

Betterbraces is now seeing an increase in business and a decrease in time spent maintaining its sites.

Let me know if you have any questions or experienced a similar situation. I would be happy to hear from you!
